Parents are more effective teachers than regular school teachers. Evidence suggests that parents teach better than certified teachers because the child can come to the parent and feel comfortable asking them anything (Nikiforuk, par. 7). Experts say that “At home a parent can focus on flexibility; character development, and creativity in ways that most schools can’t afford or have long been abandoned” (Nikiforuk, par. 7). Even the most productive teacher cannot cover what a parent can because “Findings suggest that a parent can do in two hours a day what now takes a school system a week”(Nikiforuk, par. 7). This happens because there is no busy work and transitions between classes. Parents are better teachers than professional teachers because their child can feel comfortable asking them about something they would not be comfortable asking a regular teacher. They can teach on subjects that a school system cannot cover, and they can teach in a time efficient manner.
